Sermon: Trials Of Many Colors
Text: James 1:2
Thesis: Our Trials Are Not All The Same.
I. Some People’s Response To Trials Is Purple.
A. These people allow trials to beat them up.
B. They see no way out.
II. Some People’s response To Trials Is Blue.
A. These people allow trials to move them into a state of depression.
B. God desires more for his people.
III. Some People’s Response To Trials Is Green.
A. These people envy the lives of others.
B. We are not to be people who are envious of others.
Conclusion: What color are your “trials of many kinds?” My color may not be the same as yours. You may handle your trials entirely differently than I handle mine. No one gets the same type as everyone else. We can’t choose what we get, but we can choose how we color our response. Let’s them beat you up and bruise you is not the proper response. Allowing them to depress you, is also not a good option. And finally, being green with envy at how others deal with theirs is not a proper option either. James’ advice is to go in with faith that God is with you and will be there as you deal with your version of trials. You can persevere and come out stronger on the other side.
