Sermon: No Perfect Dads
Text: James 1:17
Thesis: Even The Imperfect Can Be Used By God.

I. Eli Wasn’t A Perfect Father.
A. He served God faithfully.
B. He could not bring his sons for faithful living.

II. Samuel Wasn’t A Perfect Father.
A. Samuel was also faithful to God.
B. His sons didn’t follow in his footsteps.

III. Saul Wasn’t A Perfect Father.
A. Saul had a good start with the Lord.
B. He became a man God could and would not work through.

IV. David Wasn’t A Perfect Father.
A. David succeeded Saul.
B. But he may have neglected his family too often.

Conclusion: Many men want to be perfect fathers for their families and children. But guys none of us are perfect. We’re going to make mistakes and sometimes they will be big ones and we can’t roll them back or take them back. All we can do is seek God’s forgiveness and help. God used each of these men despite their imperfections and mistakes. That doesn’t excuse their poor choices or their failures. This does however remind us that can use each of us, no matter how weak to accomplish His will. Don’t give up, seek God’s help and do your best.
