Sermon: Getting Out And Moving On
Text: I Peter 4:12 – 19
Thesis: Pain Too Is A Gift.

I. God Can Use Pain To Get Us Out Of Addictive Behaviors.
A. We never stop learning and being trained.
B. Many of the behaviors we learn over a lifetime or addictive and destructive.

II. God Can Use Pain To Get Us Out Of Adverse Situations.
A. Man tends to get himself into some very sticky situations.
B. Pain is a universal and affective language.

III. God Can Use Pain To Get Us Out Of Abusive Relationships.
A. Even the best of people can find themselves in an abusive relationship.
B. Abuse comes in many forms.

Conclusion: As Lewis showed us, pain in our world is not a sign that God does not exist. And as Patterson shows us God can take and use to his glory something which is not pleasant. And finally, as Peter shows us it is unrealistic for us to think that we can live in a broken world without pain. It is also unrealistic to think that we can live among the lost and not face the pain of being misunderstood or persecuted. So, let’s keep a good lookout in our lives and see if God maybe using pain in our lives to communicate His will to us and to protect us.
