I. The First Supernatural Event Was Jesus’ Submission To Death.
A. This one is often overlooked.
B. Submission has gotten a bad reputation.

II. The Next Supernatural Event Was The Tearing Of The Temple Curtain From Top To Bottom.
A. This curtain was a significant part of the Temple.
B. God’s people now have a “new and living way.”

III. The Next Supernatural Events Were An Earthquake, Tombs Opened, And The Resurrection Of Saints.
A. This was no ordinary earthquake.
B. The opened tombs gave forth their dead.

Conclusion: Matthew doesn’t tell us what happened after that. We don’t know whether these dead
went back to the grave or whether they ascended to Heaven. But it’s a fact that Jesus is still raising people to the newness of life through the watery grave of immersion. Each time one is baptized they bear witness of the power of God to raise the dead and to give one a new lease on life. And if you need that today, then now is your time. I challenge you to come forth and give Christ your life.
