Sermon: Understanding Confession
Text: Psalm 51:17
Thesis: We Need To Hurt Regarding What Hurts God.

I. Be Broken For Sin Means There’s No Defensiveness.
A. There is no excuse to bring forth.
B. There is no defense for sin.

II. Be Broken For Sin Means There’s No Anger With God.
A. God didn’t make us inferior.
B. God doesn’t enjoy seeing man struggle with sin.

II. Be Broken For Sin Means You Refuse To Be Bitter.
A. Sometimes the redeemed seem very bitter.
B. You are called to be God’s poster child for redemption.

Conclusion: I’m not sure a person is really ready to serve the Lord till they are broken for the sin they have committed against God. And as such their words may not match the contents of their hearts. Their actions may not be a particularly good advertisement for the truth of the gospel. I pray that a brokenness will come upon the church and our world. I pray that it will lead the lost and those whose souls are in danger back to the great Redeemer. No one restores like He does.
