Sermon: Rationalizing Faithless Decisions
Text: Daniel 3:19 – 29
Thesis: There’s Simply No Substitute For Obedience.

I. When We Compromise Our Integrity, We Don’t Leave Room For Divine Intervention.
A. Not all compromising is good.
B. Give God a moment to work.

II. When We Take Matters Into Our Own Hands, We Take God Out Of The Equation.
A. Don’t try to out think or re-think.
B. No life experience should be approached without God involved.

III. When We To Manipulate A Situation, We Miss Out On The Miracle.
A. Man has a desire for control.
B. We refuse God His role and write our divine intervention out of the script.

Conclusion: If these three men had of bowed, they would have most likely saved their own lives. Any of the rationalizations or others could have been used. But then they would have been saved by the hands of men, not God. And while they would have lived, they would have buried their integrity. They would have forfeited a miracle and a decree which set God apart. This is what we do when we bow down to what is wrong. We put our reputation and that of God’s at risk. There is no substitute for our complete obedience.
