Sermon: A Gentle Confrontation With The Best Of Results
Text: Zechariah 4:6
Thesis: God’s Voice May Come Through Anyone.

I. God Used Nathan To Rebuke David.
A. Nathan won’t make the short list of top prophets
B. David would definitely be someone who would be hard to confront.

II. God Used Mordecai To Exhort Esther.
A. Mordecai is common man as well.
B. As Queen Esther would be in a position to help bring about God’s will for her people.

III. God Used Paul To Encourage Timothy.
A. Paul was an eager and busy servant of God.
B. Timothy is a young minister in a growing church.

Conclusion: Now, let’s go back and look at this passage and why we might use it to illustrate how God uses common ordinary men. Zechariah is writing these words which an Angel has given him to take to Zerubbabel. Zerubbabel is the governor of Jerusalem under Persian reign. He is a Babylonian born Jew which God is going to use to rebuild His temple. It will not be as glorious as Solomon’s temple, but it will be larger. God could have easily used another Angel to carry this message to Zerubbabel, but he chose to send this message through the prophet Zechariah. So, we ought to always be available to be God’s mouthpiece or voice and to hear His voice through other people.
