Sermon: The Problem With The Ladder
Text: Philippians 2:5 -11
Thesis: To Be Our Highest We Have To Go His Lowest.

I. Jesus In The Very Nature, God.
A. Look at the opening scene.
B. And look at His place.

II. Jesus Didn’t Consider This Grounds For Grasping.
A. He gave up all His rights.
B. Not just any old servant.

III. Jesus Chose To Humble Himself.
A. The great discovery.
B. The lowest regions of humble.

Conclusion: The main problem with ladder climbing is that you will miss out on Jesus. You go up, up, up, but He’s not there. He came down many years ago and He took the ultimate demotion and died on the cross. At moment when in the eyes of ladder climbers it appeared He looked like the most foolish of all failures, was actually the moment of His greatest triumph in the eyes of the Father. And that is the basis for verse 9 – 11. And know this, it’s the score keeping of His and His alone which counts.
