Sermon: Dangerous Progression
Text: James 1:14-15
Thesis: We Can Stop The Progression

I. Temptation Comes When We’re Enticed By Evil Desires.
A. Having flesh assures that we each have some of them.
B. We have to decide what desires we feed.

II. Evil Desires Produce Evil Fruit.
A. God created a simple and yet complex order of reproduction.
B. We have to make plans to produce righteous fruit and to prevent evil fruit.

III. Evil Fruit Leads To Death.
A. It’s just that serious.
B. It’s an old and true equation.

Conclusion: Sin makes all kinds of promises, few of which it ever truly delivers on. And the parts it does comes with such vile consequences that it can never be truly enjoyed, long term. And the Word of God shows us clearly how this whole thing begins. We have these desires, some good and some not. If the evil ones are allowed to meet opportunity, unchecked, then we have the fruit of sin produced. If sin is not checked in the light of truth and grace, then it will end at our death before God. This is true because God cannot stand sin in any way. But His grace can bring the vilest sinner back into His good graces. Let’s each of us stop the progression of sin in our lives.
