Sermon: An Ethical Dilemma
Text: James 2:14-17
Thesis: Faith Should Be More Than Words.

I. Too Many Christians Profess One Thing But Practice Another.
A. Faked faith is no faith.
B. Faith without deeds or fruit is fake.

II. Previously, The Church Was The Most Respected And Influential Institution.
A. The church was the center of the community.
B. The church was responsible for much of the good which happened in the community.

III. However, Today The Church Has Lost Much Of Her Influence In Our Culture.
A. Many Christian have adopted a “take or leave it” attitude.
B. We have relegated Christianity to a spectator sport.

Conclusion: I ask you to consider another question which James raises in this passage. He asks, “what good is it?” I challenge you to ask yourself the same question regularly. What good is a faith without deeds or fruit? What good is a church which bears no fruit for the Lord? Now is no time to sit and watch. Now is the time to be authentic and show the world a love which is only found in the Lord. Now is the time to gain back the influence we were called to have in our world.
