Sermon: Sin Is No Joke
Text: Romans 6:19 – 23
Thesis: Sin Always Burns.
I. Sin Thrills, Then It Kills.
A. Many refuse to admit to the thrill of sin.
B. Sin always ends at the same place.
II. Sin Fascinates, Then Is Assassinates.
A. Sin appeals to the weaknesses of fleshly mortals.
B. An assassin is the most evil of all villains.
III. If You Play, You’re Going To Pay.
A. We want to play for fun, but Satan plays for keeps.
B. The price for sin is not one any intelligent person wants to pay.
Conclusion: In I Samuel 17 David came face to face with an extremely large and virtually unbeatable champion. But when given an opportunity David stood before him as his challenger. This made the giant laugh and ask, “Am I a dog that you have tossed me a stick to play with?” That’s my loose translation. But against the odds, David threw a stone under the guidance of God and slayed the giant. Your sinful past may seem like this giant, so find your stone and slay this thief. That stone is the grace and mercy of God. These are the weapons which allow all of us to demolish the strongholds within our lives.
