Sermon: The Common Thread
Text: Luke 15: 7
Thesis: God Is Great At Retrievals.
I. Each Of These Stories Had Retrievals.
A. Before you can have a retrieval, there must be a casting out.
B. The retrieval is an investment.
II. Each Of These Stories Had A Result.
A. Something is going to happen.
B. There will be struggles and setbacks.
III. Each Of These Stories Had Rejoicing.
A. That which was lost was found.
B. The church is like a hospital.
Conclusion: Many years ago, I was called to task for leaving a funeral visitation too early. I told my leadership why I had done so. I had scheduled a meeting with a lost couple on that same night. I quoted the words of Jesus. From Matthew 8:22, “Follow me, and let the dead bury their own dead.” I wasn’t being disrespectful, but nothing is more important than retrieving the lost. This is the only way we can be contagious.
