Sermon: Keeping Score
Text: Romans 12:3
Thesis: We Need To Be Cautious At How We Keep Score.

I. We Keep Score By Comparing.
A. First, we have to find a standard.
B. And even here we are biased.

II. We Keep Score By Competing.
A. Efforts and motivations drive driven people crazy.
B. We weren’t meant to compete.

III. We Keep Score By Climbing.
A. There’s no corporate ladder in the church.
B. We can’t impress the Creator.

Conclusion: So many get caught up into keeping the score, truly believing the higher the score the bigger the win. But God’s not impressed with our worldly accomplishments. He’s been here and seen it all. To impress Him you need faithfulness and servanthood. You don’t need to do or have more, either because it all was His to begin with. And by the way, the standard by which success is really measured is what you’ve done with Jesus His Son.
