Sermon: Dead On Arrival
Text: James 2:20 – 26
Thesis: Faith Is More Than Acceptance.

I. Check For A Pulse.
A. James’ first example is Abraham.
B. Abraham’s faith was active, and it held nothing back.

II. Check The Vital Signs.
A. James’ second example offers a bit of a challenge.
B. Rahab’s newfound faith could not sit idly by.

III. Check For A Heartbeat.
A. James’ next scenario will now be the hardest of all.
B. A person found in this state of thinking is “foolish.”

Conclusion: Let’s look at ourselves for just a moment. We need to check for a pulse, check vital signs and for a heartbeat. Abraham proved his faith with deeds, even willing to sacrifice his son of promise. Rahab proved her faith by going all in with God and risking all she had. Now it all comes down to “you” and I. Will we bear fruit and be “doers” of the Word? May we not be found dead on arrival.
