Sermon: What Is A Faith Without Works?
Text: James 2:17
Thesis: The Church Has A Faith That Works.
I. A Faith Without Fruit Is False Faith.
A. It’s not what we see in the Word.
B. Man is motivated by sight.
II. A Faith Without Fruit Is Futile Faith.
A. A fruit tree is useless without fruit.
B. Fruit serve important purposes.
III. A Faith Without Fruit Is Fatal Faith.
A. Faith is meant to be life giving.
B. Dead faith is fatal.
Conclusion: What happens when our faith is just words? What happens when our faith is not accompanied by actions or deeds? Then we are not effective, and people will miss an opportunity of hearing of Jesus and what He has done on their behalf. And for many they may not get another opportunity. There is nothing good to be had by false faith, futile faith, or a fatal faith. This is not what Jesus died to give us and anything less than a faith with actions isn’t really faith at all.
