Sermon: Don’t Settle
Text: John 4:13 – 15
Thesis: Living Water Changes Everything.

I. We All Develop An Idea Of What We Can Rely On And What Works Best For Us.
A. This woman relied on others.
B. Her best was settling for lukewarm water.

II. We Base Decisions On Our Strengths And Weaknesses.
A. We make decisions daily based on our own evaluations.
B. Many feel tied to their own well or efforts.

III. We Beat A Path To Our Own Wells So Much That They Seem Essential.
A. Going through our routine and going to our own well is not the means of change.
B. You have to really want this change of wells.

Conclusion: Sometimes we think we know what’s best for us, but find we fail, time after the time. I think this was where this woman was in life. We think we know best and can make good decisions based on our own abilities or even in abilities. We draw on our knowledge and strength so much that we see this as our only way to change and being better. But this just doesn’t get us there. Let this be your Sychar and come, Jesus is waiting.
