Sermon: It’s A Big Deal
Text: Romans 6:12 – 14
Thesis: We Need To Adjust Our View Of Sin.
I. The Word Says Nothing Good Comes From The Flesh. (Romans 7:18)
A. Man’s war to do right is with the flesh.
B. Paul has a good reason to advise us not to allow flesh to reign.
II. The Word Says There Are None Righteous. (Romans 3:10 & 11)
A. This is not just an informed opinion.
B. Once this is established, we have to find a source of righteousness to be saved.
III. The Word Says The Heart Is Deceitful And Beyond Cure. (Jeremiah 17:9)
A. The Word declares the human heart to be “desperately wicked.”
B. So man needs an accurate standard by which to live and follow.
Conclusion: This morning let’s agree that Jesus is the standard by which we measure righteousness. Let’s measure ourselves accurately together. Let’s not be discouraged when we see how far we fall short, but let’s get motivated to make change and grow in our faith and practice. The Scripture has shed light upon our lives. Now will be use this light and truth to be what He desires us to be?
