Sermon: A Life With Meaning
Text: Matthew 22:35 – 40
Thesis: Only Something Greater Than Pleasure Can Give Us Meaning.

I. God Doesn’t Give Us Meaning By Asking Us To Be Good People.
A. Without God this is a recipe for failure.
B. It’s a bit like putting the cart before the horse.

II. God Doesn’t Give Us Meaning By Asking Us To Love And Serve One Another.
A. There are many great things done in name of loving and wanting to serve one’s fellow man.
B. Nothing can be allowed to come between us and God.

III. God Gives Us Meaning By Loving Him And Loving Others.
A. Only God is worthy of my worship.
B. When engaged in loving Him, I am able to better love everyone.

Conclusion: I urge you to worship God. Honor Him with your life and in all that you do. Seek your meaning in Him. It’s not just about being good or loving and serving our fellowman. It’s about loving Him with all our heart, soul, mind and strength. And it’s there that you’ll be able to love all those bearing the image of your God. And there, you’ll find meaning.
