Sermon: A Mother Who Finished Well
Text: Matthew 20:20 – 21
Thesis: We Can Learn From Salome.

I. She Made An Early Mistake.
A. She requested something the Lord would not give.
B. Jesus used this as a teaching opportunity.

II. She Didn’t Let Her Mistake Affect Her Service.
A. It’s hard to come back after a mistake.
B. She devoted herself to serving the Lord.

III. She Served To The End.
A. The faithful mother remained steadfast.
B. Many opportunities would have been missed if one mistake had of ended her service.

Conclusion: Salome may have erred in her first recorded encounter with Jesus. Shucks, early in all our walks we probably made some missteps. But after this she more than made up for her mistake. She then seized every opportunity to be near Jesus, to learn from Him and to serve Him. I think we would do well to follow this example. And I believe this made her a wise mother.
