Sermon: Will You Be In The Hall And On The Roll?
Text: Hebrews 11:13
Thesis: Heroes Of The Faith Share Certain Characteristics.
I. They Were Champions Who Rejoiced In Running The Course.
A. It wasn’t fame or fortune which motivated them.
B. Walking by faith is more than special.
II. Each Of The Faced Obstacles Which Offered Them Excuses To Quit.
A. Quitters never win and winners never quit.
B. One excuses is as good as any other.
III. Their Difficulties Fired A Drive Deep Within Them.
A. Difficulties come in all sizes and shapes.
B. Yet, each of these people had a drive.
Conclusion: In every hall of fame there is a slogan or quote which tries to sum up the achievement of those within the hall of fame. This hall of fame is no different. In verse 38 we have these words: “the world was not worthy of them. They wandered in deserts and mountains, and in caves and holes in the ground.” 2 You see they didn’t leave earth with worldly fame or fortune. Their names weren’t on big buildings and scholarships weren’t named after them. But they did have a huge spiritual impact on our world and they glorified God, their Creator. They are in this spiritual hall of fame and their names are on the most important roll of all, the Lamb’s book of life.
