Sermon: When It Comes To Love, Speak To God
Text: I John 4:7 – 12
Thesis: We Can Have Real Unfailing Love.

I. God Wants Our Love Of Him To Be Voluntary.
A. That is part of the way He created us.
B. God didn’t create us as machines.

II. As Humans, We Tend To Love Those Who Love Us.
A. This is what comes naturally.
B. God’s love however came first and before we loved at all.

III. We Continue To Grasp The Overwhelming Love Of A Holy God.
A. Because it’s so different than anything else we experience.
B. Because it’s without limits or fine print.

Conclusion: God’s love truly is unfailing. It never lets us down and always comes through for us. The idea of unfailing love is spoken of many times in the OT. The Psalms are full of times that this phrase is used time and time again of God and His love. But here in John, he draws us a picture so we can see for all time what love is. And His love is unfailing and it is unconditional. This is the love we want and we need. However, it is just what the doctor ordered for the lost in the world around us. And when I say the world, I’m not talking another country, state, county, or city. The world could be as close as a room in your house or the fence in your yard. Go share this love.
