Sermon: We Grade, God Doesn’t
Text: Romans 3:22–24
Thesis: The Hammer Of God’s Mercy Has No Claw.

I. We’re Either In Sin Or In Christ.
A. Sin is a reality of everyone.
B. So if we’re not in sin, then we are in Christ.

II. We’re Either Guilty Or Forgiven.
A. It’s clear that we’re all guilty.
B. Our only other option is forgiven.

III. We’re Either Sinners Or Saints.
A. Before Christ, all men are sinners.
B. Because of Christ all can be saints.

Conclusion: Don’t leave here today confused about where you are. Don’t
leave discouraged either. Paul could have allowed sinful memories of his
past hold him hostage. These feelings of condemnation could have kept
him from going on his missionary journeys, kept him from preaching the
gospel, or kept him from writing half the New Testament. But he knew
the message of Colossians 2:14, “having canceled the charge of our legal
indebtedness, which stood against us and condemned us; he has taken it
away, nailing it to the cross.”1 Remember this today. God’s hammer has
no claw to take back what He nailed to the cross on your behalf.
