Sermon: No Condemnation
Text: 1 John 1:8-10
Thesis: Jesus Took It All.

I. If We Plead Innocent, We’re Guilty As Charged.
A. Our opinion is flawed.
B. If our opinion is wrong then we are deceived.

II. If We Plead Guilty, We’re Found Innocent.
A. The truth makes all the difference.
B. Being made innocent is a huge task.

III. What We Have Here Is An Absolute Negation.
A. We see this force in Romans 8:1.
B. We see it in the death of God’s one and only Son.

Conclusion: Some would say this is too good to believe. They might
even question the depth of God’s ability to forgive. But I want to try to
give you something to really think about. When Peter asked Jesus how
many times to forgive, he was shown the standard of “seventy time
seven.: In Matthew 18 and the parable of the unmerciful servant, the
king was owed ten thousand talents. Let’s break this down a second.
One talent equaled 60 minas. One mina equaled three months wages.
So one talent totaled 180 months of wages. That’s right, there is 15 years
for one talent, so it would equal 150,000 years of wages. Using today’s
average life span, then we’re talking about a debt that would take 2,232
lifetimes to pay off. This is what lengths God will go to forgive.
