Sermon: The Struggle With A Promised Ruler
Text: Isaiah 9:1 – 7
Thesis: Christ Didn’t Come To Meet Man’s Expectations.

I. The Savior Doesn’t Exact Justice In Our Time Or Our Way.
A. God’s timing is often different than our own.
B. God’s priorities are different than ours too.

II. The Savior Doesn’t Tell Only The Good Things About Us And Ignore Our Sin.
A. Everything about life and our deeds is not good.
B. Sin has to be dealt with.

III. The Savior Doesn’t Shy Away From Statements That Seem Offensive.
A. Truth isn’t always warm and comfortable.
B. Jesus wasn’t always gentle in His presentation of truth.

Conclusion: I say to you Merry Christmas. Jesus didn’t come special ordered by you. He was a special order from the Father for a specific task. And He does this task like no other could. Accept this gift and be numbered among the redeemed. He may offend you when you don’t want to face the truth. He may confront us to truth we don’t like. He may not do everything the way we like, but He’s the only acceptable offering for sin we have.
