Sermon: How Do We Continue To Stand?
Text: Hebrews 12:1 – 3
Thesis: The Church Must Stand Firmly.

I. Our Passage Urges Us To Run With Perseverance. (v.1)
A. We need to see the urgency of our mission.
B. And our forward progress should be properly partnered.

II. Our Passage Urges Us To Fix Our Eyes On Jesus. (v.2)
A. The church needs a single focus.
B. Jesus is to have our full attention.

III. Our Passage Urges Us To Not Grow Weary And Lose Heart. (v.3)
A. Life is a marathon.
B. Not all who start this race will finish.

Conclusion: The culture we live in is clearly against the Lord and His will. But this isn’t new, it’s been played out many times. As the writer of Hebrews wrote the world was under Roman rule which was clearly against the will of God too. But for a second, I want to share a few words from a book by Mark Penn called Microtrends: The Small Forces Behind Tomorrow’s Big Changes. Penn wrote, “It takes only 1 percent of people making a dedicated choice — contrary to the mainstream’s choice—to create a movement that can change the world.” I urge you to be part of the 1 percent.
