Sermon: Understanding Confession
Text: James 5:16
Thesis: There’s Power In A Genuine Confession.

I. Never Minimize Your Sin.
A. It is a big deal.
B. Don’t ignore a single stumble in your walk.

II. Never Rationalize Your Sin.
A. Your life is not a comparative study.
B. No one else is the cause you chose to do, be or say.

III. Never Generalize Your Sin.
A. Be specific with God.
B. It’s God we all will face one day.

Conclusion: Sin can do harm to us in so many ways. It dims our view of life and of God. Left unchecked it will take us further than we could have ever imagined. But stepping up and confessing before God is the first step to being free. Being able to admit to others that you have been guilty before God and you have needed His grace and mercy will encourage them to trust God as well. And when saints pray together and for sinners, big things happen.
