Sermon: No Excuse
Text: Psalm 51:4
Thesis: We Just Need To Come Clean.
I. David Didn’t Claim He’d Made An Unfortunate Accident.
A. We all know life is about choices.
B. David realized exactly what he had done before God.
II. David Didn’t Claim He’d Unintentionally Messed Up.
A. Sin is often the fruit or ungodly intentions and motives.
B. The desires of David and led him to do evil.
III. David Didn’t Claim He’d Done Only What Everyone Else Was Doing.
A. We need to get a handle on sin and thestandard of sin.
B. Be clear about what all this means.
Conclusion: Genesis 6:5 says, “The Lord saw how great man’s wickedness on the earth had become, and that every inclination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil all the time.” And yet God punished this evil, but for 8 souls in all. David had no excuse for his sin. He stepped up and declared himself guilty before God. And with that God stepped up and forgave his sin and restored him and used him to carry forth His will. This is the hope of every human who has ever sinned before God. We just need to come clean.
