Sermon: Our Kids Need Good Models
Text: James 3:17
Thesis: Parents Should Be Great Models

I. A Model Mother Shows Mercy.
A. The first part of mercy is leniency.
B. The second and most important part of mercy is love.

II. A Model Mother Is Dependable.
A. Kids need us to be fruit bearers.
B. Kids need us to be the same people in private as we are in public.

III. A Model Mother Is Impartial.
A. Our children need to feel three important things.
B. Everyone understands the need for rules.

IV. A Model Mother Is Sincere.
A. Children need us to be transparent.
B. The fruit of genuineness is amazing.

Conclusion: God has given mothers and fathers a great responsibility. You never get past it or get over it. Once a parent, you’re always a parents and example. If we do our jobs well and sufficiently, teaching them to respect and honor others and God, then all are blessed by the experience. And when our examples match our teachings, kids will rarely miss the point.
