Sermon: A Spiritual Recession
Text: James 4:13 – 17
Thesis:We Need To Remain Focused On The Goal.

I. Spiritual Recession Can Result From Foolish Presumptions.
A. We take too much for granted.
B. We presume we’ll never have to deal with the consequences of sin.

II. Spiritual Recession Can Result From Forgotten Perspectives.
A. James seeks to restore our perspective.
B. It’s time to do some remembering.

III. Spiritual Recession Can Result From Forsaken Priorities.
A. Man’s priorities are quickly misdirected.
B. Christ must be the number one priority.

Conclusion: Regarding our economy, none of us likes to see the onset of a recession. It means hard times for the people of our country. Jobs cut or lost, and so much more. But this is how God feels when we allow a recession to come and persist in our spiritual lives. He feels the pain and we struggle to stay faithful and focused on evangelism. James shows us the roots, so then we can do something about it, with God’s help.
