Sermon: An Exchanged Life
Text: James 3:7 & 8
Thesis: There’s But One Means Of Taming The Tongue.
I. Education Can’t Do It.
A. Having the right knowledge is not enough.
B. Having experience is not enough either.
II. Turning Over A New Leaf Can’t Do It.
A. It will take more than a decision to tame the tongue.
B. It will take more than repentance as well.
III. Only A Supernatural Transformation Of The Heart Can Tame The Tongue.
A. This success comes from a supernatural source.
B. Transformation is much more than a change.
Conclusion: Many of the things which James speaks of throughout his book I can identify with. But few come as close to my heart as James’ words about the tongue. I have unsuccessfully tried to control my own. I have said things to and about people which were harmful and injurious. I have repented of these things. But I now know that I need the Spirit to be more in control of my life. I ask God to help me allow Him to tame my tongue and use my words to bless and heal. I pray that you would ask God to help you do the same.
