Sermon: The Word Changes Us
Text: Colossians 1:3 – 6
Thesis: Being In The Word Brings Us Into God’s Presence.

I. The Word Changes The Way We Think.
A. Our minds are constantly bombarded.
B. The Word will empower is to take control of our thoughts.

II. The Word Changes The Way We Feel.
A. Many things affect our feelings.
B. God wants to be the most influential voice to affect our feelings.

III. The Word Changes The Way We Live.
A. Everyone is inspired to live as they do by something.
B. True saints are clearly motivated by the desire to please and glorify God.

IV. The Word Changes The Way We Love.
A. The world’s love is lukewarm and watered down.
B. God has only the real thing and is eager for us to share.

Conclusion: Can you imagine a world where the gospel changes people as it changed the people of Colossae? Where the reputation of the saints preceded them, and others were impressed by what they heard and saw lived before them. These people had “been with Jesus” and everyone could tell. The Word had made changes which the Father endorsed. It changed the way they thought, the way they felt, the way they lived and the way they loved. This is what happens when we are empowered by God as we are in His presence.
