Sermon: We Need Discernment
Text: I Corinthians 1:19 – 21
Thesis: We Are Ill-equipped Without Discernment.
I. Discernment Is Important To Obeying The Prompting Of God.
A. Many are as confused as young Samuel was.
B. Those in tune with the Spirit can’t ignore this.
II. Discernment Is Important To Put Pain Into Perspective.
A. Pain is often a confusing message.
B. Life is never going to be absolutely pain free.
III. Discernment Is Important To Reading People.
A. People are the hardest things to read.
B. People can bring both joy and pain into your life.
Conclusion: Everyone needs and should seek discernment. But you can’t get it from a book or receiving a degree. It’s a blessing which only comes to those who have and use the Spirit of God. Letting Him guide your life and tune us in to the voice of God. We all will get promptings, pain and messages through people. Will we recognize them or dismiss them? Will we get the message or go forward missing the point God was trying to make? You must decide and use the Spirit accordingly.
