Sermon: Don’t Assume
Text: Matthew 21:21 & 22
Thesis: Just Believe And Wait For The Results.

I. Joshua Didn’t Assume The Sun Couldn’t Stand Still. (Joshua 10:12 & 13)
A. Joshua was in a battle in which he needed more time.
B. We often assume God can’t or won’t.

II. Elisha Didn’t Assume An Ax Head Couldn’t Float. (2 Kings 6:1 – 6)
A. Elisha refused to limit God.
B. When we’re about the business of God no obstacle is unsurmountable.

III. Mary Didn’t Assume Virgins Couldn’t Get Pregnant.
A. Mary didn’t have all the answers, but she had faith. (Luke 1)
B. We tend to talk ourselves out of being blessed beyond explanation.

IV. Peter Didn’t Assume He Couldn’t Walk On Water. (Matthew 14)
A. Peter believed that nothing was beyond the scope of Jesus’ abilities.
B. We need to leave the community of “can’t” and “won’t.”

Conclusion: You know there is one more person who didn’t assume either. This was Jesus. He didn’t assume that death was the end of life. He knew that the One who first gave life and restores life. And His death assures us today that it’s not over or the end till God has it’s over. If you want to see more of God’s direct intercession, then don’t be one who assumes to much about life and limits God. I ask you to believe and look for what God can do.
