Sermon: The Line Between Discernment And Skepticism
Text: John 17:17
Thesis: The Right Filter Is Essential To Filtering Truth.

I. The Bible Is The Best Filter.
A. Everything must be judged by something which is totally reliable.
B. Nothing else even comes close.

II. Don’t Let The Existence Of What Is False Keep You From Believing Truth.
A. In our present world it’s understandable to be a bit skeptical.
B. The truth will always be the truth, if it’s truth at all.

III. God Can Still Do What He’s Always Done.
A. God has not weakened over time.
B. Christianity is an amazing asset to our world and to mankind.

Conclusion: What has eroded the faith in or of miracles today? Maybe, it’s been disappointment. Times you asked for and believed God for something miraculous. I can’t speak to your disappointment directly. However, I know that God sometimes doesn’t give us the answer we want the most. I’m sure and believe in faith that He does know best, even when we don’t understand. But if He never answered another prayer of mine, you know, He’s still the God who can and will. I choose to discern and not merely be skeptical.
